TSSL were asked to build a House of Dots by Lego to launch their new dots product. With Lego Dots children can explore different ways to express themselves with bracelets or room decor items they can assemble, design and decorate again and again, there are no rules with these sets, colourful tiles and a child’s imagination. Arts and crafts lovers can dive in and create something new on the go, then re design it at any time.
Artist Camille Walala used millions of elements from the Lego Dots theme to create an interactive space where children and adults should be inspired by the colourful playfulness of DOTS.
TSSL designed, built and installed the LEGO – House of Dots. We were given an initial brief by Lego and artist Camille Walala. This was a very complete structure that would house various rooms. A living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and disco room. This was constructed out of 8 shipping containers and then clad with an external facade.
LocationCoal Drops Yard, Kings Cross, London
The brief came in at the end oft 2019 and was designed, built and installed by the end of January ready for the public to experience.
Trinity used 8 Shipping containers to make the frame of the house to enable the Lego House of Dots to be shipped globally for all to enjoy, we worked with the Artist Camile Walala to completely decorate the interior and exterior with a Lego theme to match the Lego Dots launch
We created several bespoke rooms for the house to feel alive from a Living room, Kitchen, Bathroom complete with a ball pit bath, Neon room to a childs bedroom. Each room had it’s own Lego DOTS inspired theme and covered in hand placed Lego walling.
We truly enjoyed this project as it allowed us the opportunity to work directly with Lego and an Artist to help bring an idea to life.
