We were approached by Bourne & Hollingsworth with an enquiry about building a 6 metre gold Christmas tree.
LocationThe Stones Nest, Shaftesbury Avenue, London
The client sent their own designs of the tree, but due to the short lead time, our talented designer had to redesign the tree to make it possible to build in time for the event.
The event took place in a beautiful abandoned chapel, The Stones Nest in Shaftesbury Avenue. It is a grade 2 listed building, therefore, we were not allowed to drill into the walls. We collaborated with Overlay who built the scaffolding structure for the 6 metre tree to sit on.
Our talented workshop carpenters then built a 6 metre frame cladded with gold vinyl covered boards. Next, we covered 450 foamex triangles in gold vinyl, with a 30% crinkle effect. They were then fixed onto the tree. This was to create the client’s desired effect of refraction of light.
Once the scaffolding was taken down and the tree was revealed, it created an opulent atmosphere and worked incredibly well in the venue.
