In the spotlight: Designer

In addition to set building, we can assist in the creation and development of design concepts, visualisation of creative concepts, development of technical drawings and sketches, and the creation 2D and 3D images.

We’ve decided to sit down with our designer Jennifer, and pick her brains on what her thoughts are on the design process, find a bit more about the brain behind the designs, and see what she enjoys most about working with Trinity Set & Stage.

– Hi Jennifer! How are you?

– HI! I am great thank you!

– Jennifer, I know that you really like your job. Tell me about yourself and what does your job mean to you?

I studied Interior Design at De Montfort University, I am efficient in programmes such as Cinema 4D, Photoshop and Vectorworks. I am a passionate and enthusiastic designer who flourishes in problem solving by creating innovative and creative designs. My passion lies with design as a whole, the thrill of working to a deadline; learning and using new software and the joy of achieving the final outcome.

– What is most important in designing a set?

There are three components to the success of designing a set:

The first is a clear brief from the client, although we are always ready to follow up with questions if there is not enough information. We know exactly what we need to ask in order to share the client’s vision

The second is attention to detail. The details form a general picture. For example, you always need to take into account the weather conditions, if the event is held outside: protection from rain, the use of wood or metal and etc.

The third is to listen to the wishes of the client. Perhaps, this is the most important thing. We need to help clients visualise their thoughts and visions.

– Where do you get inspiration from?

It can be anything: movies, paintings, museums, past events, even people, can contribute to the emergence of the right idea. Of course, this requires time, a couple of cups of coffee and no distractions.

– What should you pay attention to when you get an enquiry?

Don’t hesitate to ask any clarifying questions. Let it seem to you that these are obvious questions, but it is better to ask what to keep silent and do something wrong.

– What details do you need to pay attention to when creating drawings or visuals?

Absolutely all the details are important. I can’t single out anything. We must focus on all the smallest details of the order.

– What is the most popular trend this year in the industry’s event, what are the concepts? Can you tell customers what to pay attention to this year?

I think that customers need to look at new technologies. At present, many self-regulating structures are being developed that can be used for exhibition stands and mobile structures. For example, multi-functional furniture that changes shape and size will be convenient to use in mobile bars or exhibition stands to save space. For a TV show or for a film set – this will be a convenient solution for a quick change of scenery.

Thank you, Jennifer! It was great to speak with you!
