Sharp’s Success with Trinity’s Teamwork

Here’s a recap of the engaging events brought to you at London Beer Week 2017, built by Trinity Set & Stage, in association with Sharp’s Brewery.

The theme was “Beach bar in a box”, and this certainly delivered. The ‘box’ was garnished with palm trees, roped railings, sand and we installed heating lamps seeing as it was still March when London Beer Week commenced!

With briefing occurring 4 weeks ago, and an allotted day and a half build time, this was a very fast paced build for Trinity Set & Stage. Ever diligent, and ever creative, Trinity rose the bar yet again.

Beer confessional

Sharp's Brewing Beer Confessional at London Beer Week 2017Greeting patrons on the ground floor, handily adjacent to the bar by the entrance, was the Beer Confessional. It worked the same way as any normal confessional does; you confess your sins to the priest, and receive a swift cleansing of beer. You always get beer after a confession, right?

The 2.5m x 2.5m experience was built primarily with timber, but included a neon light installed

Beer Ping

You must be showing your age if you can’t piece together what beer ping is. Taking a twist on the variant of Beer Pong, the rules are essentially the same. Bounce your ball into an opponent’s cup, and your opponent drinks its contents! (Ask yourself, are they really your ‘opponent’ if you’re providing them with Sharp’s tantalising beverages?)

The purpose of this game was akin to the Beer Confessional; to provide patrons with a range of tasty beers, of which they may not go out of their way to try. By being given the drink, rather than choosing it, you are more likely to try something you may not have typically picked out at the bar.

With waits of up to 20 minutes to play Beer Ping, it’s fair to say it was a success. The biggest audience within the room was arguably congested around this feature.

Delectable Drinks

Sharp’s showcased numerous delicious beers to be had, and their bartenders were extremely knowledgeable of the wide variety on offer. ‘Hoptails’ were on offer, which are basically fun cocktails using beer as the alcohol of choice. The drinks were flowing, but tonight wasn’t a case of organising a night of intoxication.

Bespoke bars are no hassle for Trinity Set & Stage, who built a 3.2m long bespoke bar downstairs in the venue, and another 3.2m long bar upstairs.

Lost & Found

The Lost & Found experience truly amazed me. The challenge presented to Trinity Set & Stage was to build a restaurant and bar within a cloakroom, of which Trinity did exceptionally well. Entering the lost and found exhibit was in itself a fun activity; being given lost clothing to then return to the lost and found is quirky enough. No matter how many times you watch The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, however, could not prepare you for what was in store next.

Ed, our wonderfully well versed beer sommelier, greeted us in a velour suit with many secrets to beer I never even knew existed. By getting us to examine beer, smell it, and basically treat it with the sophistication we treat wine, were we able to enjoy the variety of beers Sharp’s presented us with.

The beer tasting didn’t stop there, we were then brought to the next room to see which foods pair well with the different types of beer. Appetisers made by a Michelin star chef, including salmon and seaweed salad cream dishes, and a succulently tender slice of pork belly were two particular dishes to mention, however what was truly inspirational was how well each different sample of beer went with each bite of food. Sharp’s truly know their product well, and know it’s for any occasion.

A glass ‘fishbowl’ table was constructed for the dining room, with 6 place settings. This offered guests a clear view into the table’s contents, including raffle tickets, keys, wallets and other typically lost items.

Trinity displayed at this year’s London Beer Week, that they are the experts of bespoke bars. They can turn anywhere, and anything into a bar, to suit their partner’s needs.

Beer is not simply something to be drunk, and get drunk off. There’s an art to drinking and showcasing beer.
